Why do we stress out so much in America? We have all the best medical technology, entertainment choices, and more food than we really could ever need in a lifetime. But I look around at my country and see so much sorrow. All of these things pale in comparison to the glorious riches that are only found through and in Jesus Christ.
I am very thankful for all of the technological advancements we have made in America, and for the abundance of food as well. But it always, ALWAYS, comes with a price. I am saddened to say that that price is likely the loss of what is most important, more time with and love for God himself.
In addition to the stress, we entertain ourselves to death. Still quiet moments are far and few between. Our stess (my) usually comes from scheduling too much stuff to do. Many spend so much of their money in things that end up draining their bank account (or running up their credit cards) and in turn consume their schedules. All this results in stress, stress, stress! It reminds me of the C.L Lewis quote that we are happy making mud pies on the beach when we could have a holiday at the sea.

Very true. Many Christians, specifically in the West, probably have little or no idea what it means to truly meditate on God's word or God himself.
